Ray BLK, pseudonym of Rita Ekwere is a British singer-songwriter. After releasing music independently and becoming the first unsigned artist to win BBC Sound of The Year in 2017, Ekwere landed a record deal with Island Records in 2018, then released the Empress EP the same year . In 2021 he released the album Access Denied. I wrote this short summary to highlight this artist who caught my interest with her sound rich in hip hop nuances, steeped in rn'b music. The sound is pleasant, full of interesting rn'b, neo soul and soul derivations, all blended by the expert hand of the artist.
